Profesional Experiences

At our studio, dancers gain access to unparalleled professional experiences that take their training beyond the classroom.

These opportunities not only inspire growth and artistry but also provide invaluable connections and insights into the world of professional dance and performance.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

While looking for the next exciting experience to offer to my dancers… it is often hard to top the last.

Every Thanksgiving, as I prep for dinner, watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was just as an important tradition as the candied yams. Each time I would watch the sea of dancers march by and perform on TV, I would always say, “I want to do that.”

With preparations in place, almost six months ahead of time, twenty five NSD dancers were chosen to represent New York in a routine of six hundred dancers from across the nation.

Our dancers spent the week in manhattan learning choreography, practicing cheers and soaking up all NYC has to offer. The rehearsal in Herald Square on the famous star in front of Macy’s, was a dream come true. We were rehearsing for the most famous parade in the world!

On Thanksgiving morning, hair and makeup camera ready, poms in hand, we were ready before the sun. The energy on 6th avenue was alive, as every member of the parade was filled with excitement, they had the amazing responsibility to carry on this beautiful tradition of the parade.

As the NSD dancers marched onto 34th street, magic was in the air. We did it, we are about to perform for millions. No Thanksgiving day will ever be the same. For years to come, as those twenty five dancers watch the parade on Thanksgiving morning, they will tell their families, “I did that.”

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular

NSD was beaming with excitement as we set to take the stage and showcase our lyrical piece, “As The Angels Sing,” for all to see.  This experience, was surely spectacular!

In December of 2022, North Shore Dance auditioned and was selected to be the opening act for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular!  Fifty NSD dancers, aging from 8-17 years old, had the opportunity of a lifetime, as we set to prepare our piece for iconic stage.  Throughout the process we had several news stations capture the journey and excitement, leading up to the big day.  On that beautiful, brisk Tuesday morning in December, the young NSD dancers met at the famous stage door of Radio City with all the excitement and jitters, with what was to come.  The fifty girls then took a 90 min masterclass, taught by two world famous Radio City Rockettes. They learned choreography from the show and rehearsed the iconic kick-line until stage worthy.  Finally, it was our time to perform…

Live Theater

NSD believes being exposed to the arts is a privilege and those who are fortunate enough to witness live theatre are fueling their soul.

Dancers watching dancers on stage, can’t help but appreciate the strong work ethic, sacrifices and commitment one must make to be a performer on that stage. Its motivating, humbling and a beautiful spectacle to immerse in.

From ballet classics like “Swan Lake” and “The Nutcracker” to traditional musical theater, such as “Chicago,” there is a piece you take with you into your training.

Of course no city trip is complete without taking class. NSD dancers have had the opportunity to learn Fosse choreography at Broadway Dance Center prior to seeing “Chicago The Musical”. They have taken class from ballet royalty, Leslie Browne at American Ballet Theatre in the same studio as other ballet greats and enjoyed ballet class at Steps On Broadway prior to savoring the sweet of “The Nutcracker.”

These fun, NSD field trips to NYC are great opportunities to bond with teammates, challenge oneself in class and get lost in the enchanting world of theater.

Inspiration is fuel to motivate oneself to train harder and excel at the beautiful art of dance.

Walt Disney World

Performing at Disney World was a magical and unforgettable experience for our dancers! Students had the chance to showcase their talents on a Disney World stage, delighting audiences in the heart of the most magical place on Earth. From the excitement of preparing choreography to the thrill of performing under the bright lights, this unique opportunity inspires confidence, teamwork, and memories that last a lifetime.
